Bloomon raises 3.5 million Euros from international investors
- Largest funding for Dutch internet startup within one year
- After successful investment round, Bloomon is ready to expand internationally
- Former Head of Asia at Rocket Internet Koen Thijssen enters as founding partner
Amsterdam, September 3rd 2015 – Within eight months of successfully launching in The Netherlands and Germany, Bloomon has closed Series A funding with 3.5 million Euros in growth financing. Never before has a Dutch startup raised this level of funding within such a short time frame. The cash injection will allow the business to boost its growth and expand internationally. Bloomon is looking to deliver world-famous, high-quality Dutch flowers to customers all over Europe.
The Series A funding round is led by the Dutch INKEF Capital. Partech Ventures, one of Europe’s biggest Venture Capital funds with offices in Silicon Valley, Paris and Berlin, is also part of the funding round. An investor from the flower sector is also involved. The funding will enable Bloomon to expand to new countries. The Bloomon team now consists of more than 50 people.
“We are impressed by the movement Bloomon is causing with an entirely Dutch product and an innovative supply chain in the traditional flower sector”, says Robert Jan Galema, Managing Director of INKEF Capital. Otto Birnbaum, Principal at Partech Ventures sees lots of opportunities internationally too: “The impressive growth during past months gives us great confidence in an international expansion.”
1 million deliveries
“This investment will help us achieve our goal of delivering one million bouquets during the coming two years”, says Patrick Hurenkamp, founder of Bloomon. “We are very happy with this combination of investors. We are not only gaining a lot of international experience, but also a relevant party from the flower sector.”
Former Head of Asia Rocket Internet joins
The company also announces today that Koen Thijssen has joined the founding partners of Bloomon. Thijssen shares his broad e-commerce experience with co-founders Patrick Hurenkamp and Bart Troost. Thijssen was previously Head of Asia at Rocket Internet where he successfully set up and grew a number of internet startups.
